Why not? The 7.62x54R ammo that was left behind has remained plentiful, even though it was retired decades ago. It’s not like eating junk food. Old warhorse doesn’t get the best out of this ammo. It’s not the best ammo, but it’s certainly not the best. It’s also more damaging to your Mosin-Nagant’s bore than a Siberian winter. You could end up pitting your rifle’s bore if you don’t get rid of the gunk quickly. It isn’t the most clean stuff in the world, aside from its caustic components. There’s a better way to store Mosin-Nagant ammunition. It’s not as popular as 5.56mm ammo, but there is 7.62x54R ammo that is loaded with modern 7.62x54R ammunition that can give new life to your Eurasian favorite. Modern bullets, propellants, primers, and cases all make the rifle more accurate and capable at various tasks. We’re here to help you get to grips with the best Mosin-Nagant ammunition options, at least those that are chambered in 7.62x54R. The 203-grain round is well worth the effort.
