Close [embedded material] Two women with two very different stories but one thing in common. Both women have been in a situation where gun control was clearly not an option. The DC Project highlights real-life stories from women who have experienced the failures of gun control policies. RELATED STORY The NSSF Survey shows that there were 5.4 million first-time gun buyers in 2021. The DC Project fights gun control policies with real-world examples. The DC Project’s message to the world is education, not legislation. These two women’s tragic stories should not be told in a civilized society. Yet, here we are. Politicians tell us that more gun control is the only way to solve this problem. These tragedies are not prevented by current gun control measures. In fact, violent crime is on the rise in Democrat-run municipalities. Lucretia Hughes In a common gun-related crime, Lucretia Hughes’ son received a headshot from an illegal gun. Her son was killed in the shooting at a house party. The killer was also a convicted felon who should never have been allowed to possess a firearm. This only illustrates the inability of the system to enforce current gun controls. Lucretia says that her son’s death was caused by a criminal with a heart of stone. It is a sad reality that a convicted felon pulled the trigger, and it is a sickening fact that the criminal justice system fails to handle him. “The gun control lobbyists claim that their policies will reduce violence and save lives. She clarifies that these policies didn’t save my son. I can only imagine the pain of losing a child like that as a father. Her story is a reminder of why more Americans prefer to see existing gun laws enforced rather than enacting more. Mary Forgues Mary Forgues’ story is from a different angle. Gun control laws could have cost Mary Forgues her life. Many states already have gun storage laws and gun control lobbyists are pushing to get more states to do so. But if she didn’t have quick access to her firearm, she might have died, and her daughter may have been the next. Mary recounts that a crazed drug addict broke in to her home and pinned me on the bed. He then punched me repeatedly and strangled me. I knew he was going after me and I wondered what my daughter would think when she returned home. Then, I realized that she would be his next victim. I began fighting for my life. I began fighting for her life. “I fought to the end with my gun in the dresser. He stopped dead in his tracks when I pointed it at him,” she recalls. Her story is just one of the 2 million lives saved each year by guns and shows that you are your first responder. The old saying goes that seconds count and the police are only minutes away. This story could have ended in a gun control utopia. The DC Project is a gun rights advocacy organization that believes gun rights should be women’s rights. They also highlight the increasing number of female gun owners and promote the preservation of America’s gun culture. They believe education is the best way to prevent violence and firearm safety.
