How much is it different from previous iterations of the Judge Home Defender? The Judge Home Defender is not a huge improvement, but it has some new features. Previously, the largest Taurus Judge model had barrels measuring 6.5 inches, but now it has a barrel measuring 13 inches. The extra barrel may not make the gun the most powerful, but it will give it more velocity. The Home Defender has a polymer forend to compensate for the longer barrel. A new steel shield has also been added to the cylinder to protect the shooter’s support hand. The forend also features an accessory rail to mount a laser or light. The Judge Home Defender’s top rail is designed to mount optics. The new Taurus is another example of a weapon that is gaining popularity. Many people prefer a red dot to an iron sight for home defense. The Home Defender does not have any iron sights. A sighting system is needed to compensate for this.
