Roger Mayhall Wins F-Open Mid-Range With Stunning 1800-131X

F-Open Title: 6mm Dasher rifle Roger shot a 6mmDasher, a wildcat based upon the 6mmBR cartridge. Roger said that his rifle was a tack driver: “I think my gunsmith owes me a drink or two!” Roger did an amazing job wind-reading, finishing 3 days without dropping one point.
Other shooters have praised Roger’s remarkable 1800-131X performance on the F-Class Competition Facebook Group:
Roger has been a friend for more than 5 years. Roger is a great man who is always willing to help fellow shooters. All three days were clean with an amazing X-count. Well done! You are so wrong to claim that a 6mm cannot win an aggregate! Jason Simes
“Good job buddy, I told you that those Dashers could shot. Amazing shooting. Chris Ford
Roger, you are an amazing photographer! “Awesome shooting Roger! — Dan Bramley
Roger Mayhall’s Champion-Winning Dasher
Roger posted on Facebook: “I’ve had several people ask me about the equipment that I used in the Mid-Range of Nationals. Here are the details:
The gun was a 6 Dasher and supported by a Defiance Deviant Action, Bix ‘N Andy trigger, Alex Wheeler F-Class stock, Alex Wheeler LBRF-Class stock, Sightron SSV ED 10-50x60mm scope and Dan Bramley tuner. Krieger [1:8?-twist] barrel. A SEB NEO front rest and Dima Rifle Systems rear bag with a Dead Bottom bag were also used. My load consisted 105gr Berger Hybrid in an open-fire 6BR Lapua case propelled with Varget powder, and a CCI450 primer. Dan Bramley did the barrel work.
Drew Rutherford wins F-TR Mid-Range Championship
Drew Rutherford performed well to win the F-TR Mid-Range Championship. Rutherford was using Eliseo R1 tubeguns with a SEB JoyPod coaxial bicycle. Gary Eliseo, chassis maker, noted that Drew Rutherford was the national midrange FTR champion. Drew used his.223 Rem &.308 Win R1 rifles in winning the Mid-Range Championship. Congratulations Drew!
The Eliseo Competition Machine R1 Chassis is a versatile system. Drew enjoyed great success with his R1s fitted with rear bag-riders, SEB JoyPods and SEB JoyPods. The same chassis can also be used for Palma Matches or High Power competition, with less bag-rider/bipod.

Solomon sets a new national F-Open 1-day record with 600-53X
Bret Solomon, 1798-135X finished second in the F-Open Mid-Range Championship. Bret Solomon with 1798-135X was second in the F-Open Mid-Range Championship. This was notable because he posted the highest X-Count and also set a single day National Record. Gunsmith Thomas “Speedy” Gonzalez posted: “Congratulations my friend Bret Solomon for shooting a 200-20X, and then setting a [1-Day] 600 yard National Record at the U.S. F.Class Nationals. Bret was shooting the Lil’ Red Devil in 7mm RASUM using a new Bartlein 4-groove bartlein barrel that I forced him to use!

These are photos of Bret Solomon’s Lil’ Red Devil rifle, as featured in our Daily Bulletin.

Speedy named this beauty the “Little Red Devil”, and it is chambered with.284 Winchester. It has a Melonited 3LL Melonited action with two bolts (regular or magnum bolt faces). Will McCloskey crafted the stock using advanced CNC machines. This allows for extremely precise tolerances that allow for better tracking and perfect geometry.
Torrefied wood from Yamaha, CNC-Milled To Perfection
This wood is special. The flame maple was sourced directly from Yamaha. Yamaha used a torrefaction method to stabilize the wood and prevent it from warping. Yamaha developed the ARE process, Yamaha’s exclusive technology for musical instruments. Speedy explained that Yamaha uses heat (we think) and pressure (we believe) to stabilize the wood, and dampen vibrations. The wood’s sap actually crystallizes during torrefaction.

Will McCloskey CNC-milled the torrefied blank to achieve “best-in industry” tolerances for this rifle build. Special red-tone polyester finish Lee Garver (a well-known guitarist painter). Speedy says the stock is “pretty close to scratch-proof” because of its glossy, hard finish.
