30 BR Brass by Parosky – Neck-Turned and Expanded

Here’s some good news for 30BR Shooters. Paul Parosky offers neck-turned 30BR brass. He is the maker of PRP Custom Bullets. This will save you a lot of time and effort when forming 30BR casings from Lapua brass 6mmBR. The neck-turning also saves time (and you don’t need to buy any tools). This 30BR brass can be ordered from PRPbullets.com. Paul, if you let him know your desired thickness, may be able neck-turn it for you. Paul writes: “Here’s necks turned for 0.330 necks. I will do my best to accommodate any neck size. Contact us via our website PRPBullets.com. “About This Neck-Turning Set-up — Paul Parosky notes that: “For Neck-Turning, I use an old drill press which has been reworked. Before neck turning, the cutter and spindle must be marked to ensure that there is no runout. The RPM is 520. I use a mix of mystery oil and royal oil. “Why the 30 BR Dominates the 100/200 Benchrest CompetitionThe 30BR cartridge, along with a few wildcat variants remains the dominant cartridge for short-range benchrest competition (100/200). Bullets with a.308” diameter are larger in the 30BR than bullets with a 6mm diameter used by the 6PPC (which is the cartridge that rules group BR competition). The larger 30-Cal diameter is more likely to touch scoring rings. The 30BR is also relatively simple to tune and barrel life is better than smaller-caliber benchrest ammunition. See our AccurateShooter Cartridge Guide for more information. Cases are expanded, then neck-turned

Parosky uses expander mandrels to produce his 30BR Brass. He then neck-turns using power, using a drill press that has been converted. Paul tells us, “This is done old school, I use three different expander mandrels. Then, I neck-turn the case to the correct neck chamber. Finally, I run them through a FL expansion mandrel to make sure the necks are straight. Then I clean the cases. “Paul Parosky can also neck-turn 6PPC brassPaul Parosky expands and neck turns 6PPC cases made from Russian cartridge brass Lapua.220. Paul Parosky posted this picture on the USA Benchrest & Extreme Precision Shooters’ Facebook page, illustrating how he neck-turns 6PPC brass.
