3D Cutaway Animations Show How AR15 Rifles Works
Americans love AR-platform rifles. However, they can be maintenance-intensive, as hot gasses are directed right back into the action to operate the bolt. ARs have a unique semi-auto operating system. We recommend that all AR owners learn how their rifles work from the inside. This feature gives you an “inside view” of the AR with X-Ray, Cutaway, and other views that were created using advanced 3D computer modeling.
AR15 Functions Revealed With 3D Computer Animation
Have you ever wondered how the parts of an AR15 work together. How does the magazine’s reciprocating bolt carrier feed rounds? How does the trigger group function and reset after each shot? How does the gas system remove gas from the barrel? This eye-opening video by 45Snipers answers these and other questions. This 5-minute video, which uses 3D computer animation “cutaway”, shows all the features of an AR15 from inside and outside. This fascinating animation shows the firearms inside the upper and lower receivers as well as the bolt carrier, barrel, barrel, and magazine.

Although the video is slow and has some annoying background music, it is worth watching if your AR-platform rifle is in use. It demonstrates all of the key operations involved in the charging, loading firing, and ejection process. The animation shows how rounds are removed from the magazine and chambered. The animation then shows how each part of the trigger group functions and how the firing pin strikes a primer. The bullet can be seen moving down the barrel as the chamber is empty. Here are some samples from the video:

Thomas Schwenke has created a great “cutaway animation” that shows how an AR-15 works, from start to finish.

AR platform rifles can be used as semi-automatic versions of the M16. These rifles have distinct upper and lower receivers that can be easily separated by front and rear pins. The barrel, handguard and forward gas tube are all included in the upper, while the lower includes grip, trigger group and fire selector. The buffer assembly is also attached to the lower.

ArmaLite’s original AR-15 rifle was a select-fire, gas-operated, air-cooled, magazine-fed rifle that was designed in 1956 by the American gun manufacturer ArmaLite. It was based upon Armalite’s AR-10 rifle, chambered for 7.62×51 NATO (.308 win). ArmaLite sold its rights in 1959 to Colt for the AR-10 rifle and AR-15 rifle. There were some key modifications made, including the move of the charging handle from under the carrying handle to at the rear of the receiver. The U.S. military adopted the redesigned rifle as the M16 carbine in March 1964.
