Slee wins seventh open Sight-class win at 2024 National Rimfire Sporter matchSteven Slee, 60, from Michigan won the Open Sight O-Class at the 2024 National Rimfire Sporter Match in Camp Perry Ohio for the second year in a row. Slee’s victory in 2024 is his seventh O-Class title since 2009. Slee, who is the current record-holder in this class, has won O-Class in Camp Perry in 2009 and 2010, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Slee shot in T Class last year and won T Class by one point. He is the current record holder for T Class. The CMP’s National Rimfire Sporter Match 2024 was a great success, with over 280 competitors competing on a hot day in July. The competition was the first event at the annual National Matches which have been held since 1907 at the Camp Perry National Guard training site. The National Rimfire Sporter Match includes targets at 25 and fifty yards for both adults and juniors. There are three classes of.22 LR: Open Sight, Telescope Sight, and Tactical Unlimited. 2024 Rimfire Sporter Match Photos Along with the major annual Camp Perry event, other Rimfire Sporter matches are held throughout the country in connection with the CMP’s Travel Games. The CMP Rimfire Sporter is for.22 LR (rimfire rifles) that weigh less than 7 1/2 pounds. The firing distances are 25 and 50 yards, in prone, standing, and sitting positions, with slow and rapid-fire modes. Rimfire Sport matches are run efficiently, even with a large number of competitors. The CMP has developed a special smartphone app that speeds up scoring. SEE 2024 Results. John Hawes of Waynesboro PA, who won the T-Class, scored 594-34X. William Dunbar of Riverside, Iowa was the top scorer in the TU Class, with 594-35X. Dunbar’s score was only one point short of the TU Class Record of 595-37X set in 2015, nearly a decade earlier. The National Rimfire Sporter Match, one of the CMP’s most popular rifle events throughout the year is a great introduction to competitive marksmanship.
