We’d love to see what rock you’ve been living under over the past decade, if you have. The long-range wonderkind has revolutionized the shooting world, greatly expanding the reach of the rifleman. But did you know that the 6.5 can be supersized? A few years ago, Hornady’s mad ballistic scientists set out to exceed their Creedmoor creation. The result, the Precision Rifle Cartridge 6.5 (PRC). The result, the 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge (PRC). Many hunters consider the 6.5 PRC the best hunting round in the caliber. This has been both a blessing as well as a curse. The blessing is that there have been many gunmakers who have produced 6.5 PRC rifles. Most rifles are designed for hunting. Duh. There are precision rigs chambered 6.5 PRC. The selection isn’t as extensive as their hunter counterparts, and many start to creep up in price. There are still options for long-range specialists with this caliber. Eight of them were rounded up. It is easy to shoot because of its mild-mannered caliber. It has a greater ballistic potential than its cousin, the Creedmoor. The 6.5 PRC has 28 per cent more capacity than the Creedmoor’s 6.5 Creedmoor. This adds up to an eight-percent increase of velocity. Comparision of Hornady’s Hornady’s Hornady’s Hornadmoor 6.5 Creedmoor ELD Match and the 6.5 PRC ELD Match. Both bullets have the identical.697 ballistic coefficient. The Creedmoor downrange is faster, but the 6.5 PRC has a higher velocity. Naw. The Cascade is a great choice for those who like to push the limits. It’s angled for hunting and made by a muzzleloader-first company. CVA’s rifle is a precision 6.5 PRC rifle. The trigger is one of the most remarkable aspects of the Cascade. Although it’s not a match switch, the single-stage unit has no take-up or creep. It breaks like thin ice. A three-lug fat bolt, which is made of three lugs, cycles smoothly and locks in place like a drum in a beefy and ridge-action. The rifle’s lightweight (7 pounds) and threaded barrel don’t make it suitable for precision-shooting. It is affordable enough for budget-conscious buyers. MSRP: $745, CVA.comSavage 110 tactical.
