We have been explaining for the past two years how the so-called “Defund the Police” movement will only lead to higher violent crime and safer streets for lawful citizens in the United States. In a very tragic manner, Seattle is now proving that prediction to have been spot on. Public safety is now at risk. RELATED STORY 12 Democrat Cities Make Homicide Records – Prove Gun Control Failure Defund the Police Nets Tragic results According to an internal memo by Sgt. According to Chief Adrian Diaz and Pamela St. John, the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit, the unit will not be investigating sexual assaults that don’t involve children. Yes, that’s right. If you are over 18 years old and have been raped by a predator in Seattle, the police won’t investigate the crime. St. John stated that the community expects police to respond to sexual violence reports. However, at the current staffing levels, this goal is impossible. While police leaders may try to downplay the issue, some police officers are speaking out to the media about it. According to police insiders, adult rape cases were moved to the back burner. In March, not one such case involving an adult victim was assigned a detective. According to a source from the department, the Seattle police department sexual assault unit does not investigate adult sexual assault cases or reports unless there has been an arrest. Most Personldefenseworld.com readers will likely remember when the widespread Black Lives Matter riots were in full swing two summers ago. Seattle was one of those Democrat-run cities who acted as if everything was normal. They tried to convince us that everything was normal. Anarchy reigned supreme during this time. CHAZ The people in charge of CHAZ (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone), presented a list to the local government. The demands for police reform didn’t include defunding the police but total abolition. Mayor Jenny Durkan was a total supporter of the “autonomous area,” which was supposed be a police-free, self governing utopia. Durkan once referred to CHAZ and said that the zone could bring a “summer love.” She even ordered police officers to leave a nearby precinct headquarters. Rioters quickly took it over. It wasn’t long before there were several fatal shootings in the area, which occurred on consecutive nights. This led to the demise of CHAZ. Its attempts at decrying police violence only led civilian violence. This was our first glimpse at the “Defund the Police!” movement’s results. Seattle, like other large cities, decided not to abolish the police force but ended up taking funding from police. The city cut the budget for 2021 by almost $35.6 million, compared to 2019. The budget was cut by $7 million again a year later. The department is losing officers faster than it can replace them. Due to their limited abilities to perform police work, many officers are leaving or retiring. The result of fewer police officers visible in difficult neighborhoods has encouraged criminals, rather than seeing a decrease in crime. Real Lives in Real Danger This brings us back to the women of Seattle who are now living in fear. They know that their attackers will not face any law enforcement investigation after a rape. Is there a better reason than this to have a concealed firearm for self defense? It’s no surprise that blacks are purchasing firearms in record numbers, as they are often the hardest hit by these policies. In truth, courts have ruled that police officers are not required to protect citizens. This is something that many Americans in Seattle and other places don’t realize. Warren v. District of Columbia in 1981 set a precedent that has been repeatedly upheld. Two attackers repeatedly raped, and brutalized three women in a Washington, D.C., hotel rooming house. Two women from the third floor heard a downstairs attack and called the police. Officers responded but did not enter the building. Two women on the third floor called police again, but no officers were dispatched. They thought they heard police downstairs and ran to hide. The attackers then found them and spent several hours raping the three women. The court ultimately ruled against the plaintiffs on the basis of “the fundamental principle, that a government or its agents are not under any general duty to provide public service such as police protection to any particular citizen.” We are our best first responders. As such, we are entitled to have the tools to defend ourselves against violent predators. Police are often only minutes away from crimes that happen in seconds. They are there to pick up the pieces and find the perpetrator of the crime. You are the only person who can help in a time of real need the vast majority of times. This is especially true if you live in a city that supports the Defund the Police narrative. Sign up for the Personal Defense World newsletter today to stay in the loop!
