Aluminum Jags Eliminate Annoying False Positives on Patches

Brass jags are great, except for one thing. They can react with solvents and leave a “false-positive” blue on patches. In recent years, jag makers have experimented many different materials to try and solve the problem of solvent reaction. Today, we have polymer, nickel-plated, and stainless steel jags. Dewey’s aluminum jag is the latest innovation.
J. Dewey Manufacturing The “Copper Eliminator’ jags and brush adpaters are made of aircraft-grade aluminum that is as hard as brass. Dewey claims its aluminum jags won’t become embedded with grit and particles that could damage your bore. Dewey’s Aluminum Jags also won’t react with ammoniated bore solutions that can turn patches green when used in conjunction with brass jags. Dewey aluminum jabs are available with either female or male 8/32 threads. The aluminum jags are $5.25 and the brush adapters $3.70. They come in a variety of sizes. These products are available from Dewey Mfg. or Brownells.
