Area 419 will offer the impressive ZERO reloading presses, a 9-station turret with some unique features, on May 18th 2023. This press was designed as the most precise turret to ever be created. As tested by Gavin Gear of UltimateReloader.com, the ZERO turret press delivered very impressive shoulder-bump consistency and ultra-low seated bullet run-out (about +/- 0.0005?). The numbers were the best you can expect from a single-stage quality press. Area 419 has done some impressive engineering. This is not surprising, since the MSRP of this product is $1275.00. SEE FULL REVIEW on UltimateReloader.com.The ZERO turret press lets you install up to nine (9) different reloading dies in the large top turret, which revolves around a central axis. The ZERO is unlike other turret press models in that it does not flex or wobble while you are loading. This is due to the clever locking system Area 419 has included for the turret after you have selected the die in your array. Area 419 uses a unique shell-holder locking system (see video at 12:20). This also increases the precision of the press. In the video, you can see the “wedge clamp” used to secure the turret. You can easily index the press to any station by loosening the clamp. You tighten the clamp after selecting your die. This important procedure can be seen at the 13:20 – 13:35 mark in the video.ZERO Turret Press Operates SmoothlyArea 419 describes the design features: Area 419 describes these design features: — Turret (zero slop) eliminates the variability caused by removing and resetting of dies
The turret holds nine 7/8×14 threaded dies (in future, 1-1/4 thread).
The ram stroke available here is 4.4?. This allows the use of cartridges with very tall dimensions.
— Adjustable/interchangeable handle setup for maximizing leverage/feel based on operation
Important Features of ZERO Turret Press1. Press frame: 6061 aluminum, clear anodized
2. Wedge clamp (locks the turret in indexed position)
3. Turret (7075 Aluminum and Steel Construction)
4. Adjustable handle with roller wheel (set for left- or right handed operation)
5. Bearings: Ball plus roller thrust bearings on side plates
6. Self-lubricated linear bearings for ram riding
7. Drawer for catching spent primersMilled from American billet aluminium and stainless steel, the press uses 14 bearings. This includes a self-lubricating sleeve linear bearing on the precision-ground 1,25? ram. The linkage system glides on bearings, allowing for smooth operation with almost ZERO slop. The oversized ram has a 0.75-inch steel arm with ZERO-friction knob. The turret is secured with a custom-made, over-sized ZERO point pull-stud. The supplied T-handle can be used to lock the turret once indexing is complete (see photo). When indexing the Turret, the repeatability variance should be less than.0005?.The opening of the press will allow sizing and seating cases up to.338 Lapua Magnum, and will accept 7/8? standard shellholders. Standard shellholders and dies are available. NOTE: Area 419 offers a shellholder with six precision inserts for headspace that allows you to tune shoulder bump precisely when using the ZERO Press: “With the ZERO Modular Shellholder System, you can set up the shellholder to your ZERO die and have greater consistency, repeatability, and ease of use.” Summary — Impressive Press Delivers Precision Results
Gavin Gear was impressed by Area 419’s Zero Press. He said it offers the precision and quality of a single-stage press with the versatility of the turret. “There will always people who prefer a single-stage traditional. The ZERO is a great option for those who prefer the precision of a one-stage press without having to constantly screw dies into and out. The precision can also be improved by leaving your dies in place. Everything will return to the same position when you index the dies into their positions. Screwing dies into and out can introduce variation, and this is the enemy of a ‘white coat shooter’. I plan to test the ZERO Press with high-end dies and custom dies I ream according to my specifications. I think that will show the full potential of this press!” Similar Posts:Tags: Area 419 Zero Turret, Gavin Gear, Indexed Turret, Ultimate Reloader, ZERO Turret Press
