ATF Releases updated Form 4473 – Firearms Transaction Records

September 18th 2023Due the statutory requirements of the NICS Denial Notification Act (NDNA) and the Bipartisan Safety Community Act (BSCA), ATF Form 4473 has been revised since December 2022. ATF revised the form to incorporate suggestions from industry members during the recent Notice and Comment periods of 60 and 30 days. The Office of Management and Budget has now approved the newest version of the form (August 2023) for implementation. The new form will be mandatory on 2/1/2024. However, the ATF recommends that you use the updated Forum 4473 right away. The Revised Form can be downloaded from the ATF’s website and printed immediately. Please note that the entire form, including instructions, should be printed and stored together. The ATF Distribution Center will begin offering hard copies of the Revised Form on November 1, 2023. ATF eForm4473 is also being updated and notification will be sent once it is ready to use. A detailed breakdown of the form changes can be found on the ATF website.
