Atterbury Rifle Championships This Summer: E-Targets

May 18th 2023After the success of the NRA National Matches in 2022, electronic targets will return to Camp Atterbury, for the Rifle Matches in 2023. Shooting Sports USA reports: “Last summer, at the NRA National Matches in Camp Atterbury (Indiana), the High Power Rifle Nationals used electronic targets from Silver Mountain Targets. The e-targets, which were used for the first time last summer at Camp Atterbury’s High Power National Championships, will be used again this year. “CLICK HERE to view the Official Camp Atterbury Summer Rifle Championships schedule for 2023” >>Cole McCulloch explained that “for 2023, we will continue with range improvements including 50 Silver Mountain Electronic Targets to support High Power Rifle & F-Class. These targets will be in place for 2023 National Matches. Note: The 2023 F-Class National Championships are scheduled to take place at the Ben Avery Range, Arizona from October 29 through November 6. The e-targets at Camp Atterbury’s range Six at Camp Atterbury last year eliminated pit duty and, more importantly, allowed for real-time scoring. The e-targets were connected to mobile devices, such as iPads, via WiFi. This allowed competitors to see their scores and shot placements immediately. Shooting Sports USA reported that: “After some hiccups in the first day of the 2023 NRA High Power Nationals which were quickly rectified the Silver Mountain electronic target performed without major issues throughout the championship.” Charles Rowe, an NRA High Power shooter with a lot of experience, said that the electronic targets were a godsend. “E-targets eliminated the need to pull pits which was especially useful this summer in Indiana’s scorching heat,” he said. The electronic targets will be used for the High Power Rifle matches at the 2023 NRA Nationals in Camp Atterbury (Over the Course, Mid-Range and Long-Range). This means faster relays, faster scoring, and NO pit duty! Relays can be conducted much faster and efficiently. Matches can be completed in a shorter time frame. The Silver Mountain Targets electronic target system (SMT) is an OPEN SENSOR fitted to wood target frames. It uses four sensors for pinpointing shot location (and scoring value) with high precision. Scores are sent via WiFi to mobile devices at each shooting station. The score values, along with the shot location, are recorded and listed on the receiving device. Silver Mountain Targets’ electronic target systems provide instantaneous scores, with scores being instantly transmitted to WiFi monitors on each station of the firing line. This allows competitors to see their shot location immediately. This is useful for wind calls. After some glitches, the system performed well in 2022. Silver Mountain Target’s David Schnelle explained that “the system is designed to provide a high degree of reliability and be easily expandable.” Battery-powered components simplify deployment at a military range. The system can even function in the event of a power failure. Communication between targets and firing line is done via a WiFi connection. Any WiFi-capable device can be used to display competitors’ shot. “Similar posts:Tags: Camp Atterbury e-Target NRA National Championships Pit Duty Silver Mountain Target
