Barrett Firearms Acquired By NIOA Group of Australia

January 24, 2023 – Barrett Firearms is acquired by NIOA Group in Australia. NIOA, Australia’s defense contractor, has announced that Barrett Firearms, a world-leader in rifle design and manufacturing, has been 100% purchased by NIOA. The financial terms of the transaction are not known. American Barrett’s factory in Murfreesboro, Tennessee will continue to be operational. All workers will be retained. Ronnie Barrett and Chris Barrett will be NIOA Group’s executive advisors. Robert Nioa, CEO of NIOA Group, said that the two family-owned businesses came together because they shared a commitment to quality and innovation. Nioa confirmed that the company would continue to operate as a separate division within NIOA Group, alongside NIOA Australia and NIOA New Zealand and the Australian Missile Corporation. Jim pointed out that Barrett’s production will continue in the USA. “There’s absolutely zero intention to move Barrett anywhere.” Nioa stated that he doesn’t want to move Barrett and that he wants to grow it beyond its current state. He also said that he loves Murfreesboro. We aren’t going anywhere. “All employees and management at the Murfreesboro manufacturing plant in Tennessee have been retained. Production will continue as usual. It is expected that Murfreesboro’s manufacturing activities will expand over time. Barrett President Sam Shallenberger was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer as part of the NIOA acquisition. Long-serving Barrett Chief Operative Officer Bryan James will become President. Ronnie Barrett, Chris Barrett, and the NIOA Group will continue to support Barrett and the NIOA Group as executive advisors. Barrett founder Ronnie Barrett stated that today marks the beginning of a new chapter.
