We reviewed the Benchmade Claymore & Shootout automatic knives last year. The autos were no exception. They offered excellent performance and edge-holding abilities. Benchmade’s Mini Claymore is a smaller version of the auto that is more convenient to carry. The Benchmade Mini Claymore The Mini Claymore is a new version of the original Adamas auto that has taken on its own life. The Mini Claymore, with its 3-inch blade is a smaller version of the original and more convenient to carry. The blade is legal for most jurisdictions at 3 inches. It is best to check your local laws and ordinances. The Mini Claymore is constructed of CPM-D2, which offers excellent edge retention and wear resistance. CPM-D2 contains additional Chromium. D2 is a semistainless steel. It is therefore a semi-stainless stainless steel. The blade is coated in a cobalt-black finish to protect the steel. It is important to maintain and monitor it as needed. The interface between the knife and the handle is a Grivory in black or green foliage. The sides have embossed sections and stippled texture for a secure hold. The guard also has a jimping section and rises at the thumb, then drops at the index. This prevents your hand from sliding up on the blade. The guard pays homage to Claymore’s namesake by featuring raised Morse Code FTE–Front Toward Enemy. The Mini Claymore can be opened by pressing a button on the presentation face. Once pressed, the Mini Claymore will reach its full length of 7,18 inches. The release button can also be used to unlock the Mini Claymore and close it after usage. The Mini Claymore weighs only 2.56 ounces and is held in your pocket by a deep carry pocketclip. It is available in right-hand tip up, but can be reversible into left-hand tip up as well. The Mini Claymore comes in either straight edge drop point, or serrated tanto.
