The M9A4 is, as with all generations, a modified Beretta M9A3. It still features the ergonomic improvements of the aggressively-textured Vertec-style grip, threaded barrel for mounting compensators or suppressors, and a magazine well with a beveled magazine. It still has tritium night sights, a Picatinny rail segment, and large controls. The M9A4’s significant upgrades allow it to stand out among contemporary tactical pistols. They can be found in the magazine, trigger, and slide. The slide can be cut to accept a variety mounting plates from Beretta. This allows you to mount almost any modern pistol red dots sight. The trigger has been upgraded over the stock version found in the A3 series. The M9A4 has an Xtreme short trigger trigger for faster follow-up shots.
It doesn’t. The A3 variant was available in classic black, or with an FDE wear resistant finish. However, the M9A4 is only available in FDE. FDE is not as wear-resistant as it should be. If the M9A4 was available in black, it would have been appreciated by shooters who do not live in harsh environments. The M9A4 comes at a high price, but if your goal is to have a reliable, high-capacity, controllable pistol that can mount optics suppressors and lights, it’s worth looking into.
