March 10, 2023Boretips Swabs and Chamber Cleaners. Wouldn’t it be great to have no need for patches or jags when cleaning guns? Super Brush, LLC had the same idea and created Bore-tips(R). These reusable foam “mops”, which can be reused, provide 360? These reusable foam “mops” can be used to contact the bore and reach both the grooves as well as the lands. Bore-tips can be threaded onto standard cleaning rods. They come in a variety sizes, from.22 caliber to 12 Gauge. Rifle Boretips are available in.22 (5.56mm), 6.243 (6mm) and 7.308 (7.62mm). Pistol Bore Tips are available in.22,.30, 9mm and.40 calibers. We first saw them at the Southwest Nationals about a year ago. We were fascinated. These foam swabs can be useful for certain applications, especially pistols and shotguns that require little brushing. Because they are more liquid-resistant than a patch, they can be used to apply solvents to rifles. You won’t want your patches and jags to be lost. Sometimes, a tight-fitting patch can be the best tool for the job. It’s cheaper to buy patches and throw away a used one than to clean foam swabs. These things are useful for shotguns and lightly used pistols.
o Each tip can be reused and cleaned with solvents, soap and water.
Bore-tips are tough and fiber-free. They will not shed or leave behind lint like cotton.

o Can be used in conjunction with most commercially available oils and solvents. Pull-Through Bore Whips for Quick Cleaning Jobs
There are also handy pull-through Bore whips that can be used with air guns and rifles in addition to the screw-on Bore tips. These are available in.177 for air rifles, and.223/5.56 to rimfire and centrefire rifles. These Bore-whips have proved to be very useful. The.177 version (see below), can also be used with 17 HMR and.17 HM2 rifles.
To apply solvent to the barrel, use a Bore-tip. Allow the solvent to work for a while before brushing the bore to remove any fouling. Next, use a clean Boretip to push out any fouling. After the bore is clean, you can use a little solvent to clean it. Next, use a paper towel or absorbent rag to wipe the dirt off the Bore-tip. The Bore-tip should now be clean enough for you to continue cleaning until the fouling is gone. Once you are satisfied with how clean your barrel is, dry it using a Bore-tip.
Apply mineral spirits to the Bore tip and then squeeze/blot it onto a paper towel or absorbent rag. Let dry the Bore-tip and then reuse it. Use soap and water to clean the Bore-tip. Next, rinse the Bore-tip using a grease-cutting detergent and warm water. Rinse the Bore-tip with warm water and a grease-cutting soap. Dry it completely.
