We want to wish all moms a Happy Mother’s Day today. We must all remember that our mothers literally brought us into this world and are responsible for our lives. She has won the National Long-Range Championship multiple times. On Nancy’s left is Sherrijo Gallagher who was the second woman to ever win the NRA National High Power Championship in Camp Perry. Who was the very first woman to achieve this feat? Nancy Tompkins was the first female High Power Champion. She is Sherri’s mother. Nancy Tompkins is married to Mid Tompkins, another great shooter. This is America’s “First Family of Shooting”. Nancy Tompkins was one of the most successful long-range shooters to ever grace American history. She has won 5 National Long Range Championships (1986, 1997 1999, 2003 and 2015), a National High Power Championship across the course (1998), Metric Smallbore Nationals 2012, and Fullbore Nationals 2012. She is also a Wimbledon Cup winner from 1993 and a seven-time Leech Cup champion (1995, 1997 1999, 2003,2005, 2011, and 2012). She has won individual and team medals at the World Championships, and has been a part of 8 Palma Teams as both a shooter or a coach. Tompkins’ Prone and Long Range Rifle Shooting is a must-read book for serious Palma shooters, F-Class shooters, and High Power shooters.
