Valentine’s Day at The Range is Just What the NSSF Wanted

Here are some tips from the (NSSF), for both novice and advanced shooters who want to go out to the range. Remember to use the NSSF’s WheretoShoot.org or WheretoShoot apps to find a range near you. You can search the NSSF database for literally thousands indoor and outdoor shooting venues in North America with the app. You can also customize it to give you many options for Valentine’s Day.

First-time shooters

A shooter’s first shot is always a great experience. Shooters who are new to the sport often rent guns before purchasing a firearm. To get comfortable with the operation, it is important to begin with a low-caliber firearm such as a handgun or long gun of.22 caliber.

A beginner will love to pull the trigger. It is best to keep things simple. It is important to know the safety rules and start with a safety briefing. Watch the NSSF’s Range and Etiquette video to get started

Once everyone is familiar with how to use the firearm and target shoot, you might add a fun element such as falling plates or a dueling table, if the range permits.

You have many options to challenge your partner and get creative. You can challenge your partner to a carnival-style shootout where they can compete for a prize. To give your partner something to shoot for, offer a variety of larger prizes such as a movie, dinner or tickets to an event. As a participation gesture, you can bring a teddy bear or flowers, no matter how accurate the shooting is.

It’s all about having fun! Make the day unforgettable.

Experienced shooters

Experienced target shooters will find moving targets a challenging challenge. Shotguns are the perfect tool to help you get rid of moving targets. A shotgun is the best way to chase moving targets. While some ranges offer rental shotguns for hire, most require that you bring your own gun.

A smaller gauge shotgun, such as a 20 ga., is a good choice for those who are new to the sport or have a smaller frame. It imparts less recoil and is ideal for beginners.

Many shooting ranges specialize in offering unique opportunities to shoot impressive firearms and long-range target shooting. Many ranges offer a variety packages that allow shooters to try different firearms.

Stepping up our game

In ancient Rome, Valentine’s Day was a day when young men sought to attract the attention of the object they loved. But this is America and we do things differently. The day of love in the United States has been designated a Hallmark holiday. This day is celebrated by sending mass-produced Valentine’s gifts to our loved ones.

Perhaps it’s time for us to take cupid NSSF’s advice and step up our game. Treat your better half to something even Roman Emperor Claudius II would approve: a day at the range. You can look at it this way: even if your partner doesn’t like it you still got a day at range.
