Chris Simmons wins the International Precision Rifle Federation PRS World Championships on September 27th 2023Lapua congratulates Team USA Chris Simmons for winning the first ever Precision Rimfire World Championships, organized by the International Precision Rifle Federation. This highly anticipated match was held at the Piancardato Tiro A Volo in Collazzone from August 18 to September 3rd. Chris was using a Vudoo with Lapua X Act.22 LR rimfire cartridge. Simmons scored 165.00 points in the aggregate with a time 1480.45. The first four finishers also came from the USA. The International Precision Rifle Federation World Championships attracted top shooters from over 23 countries. The three-day competition saw competitors take on a challenging course-of-fire at different distances. They also had to shoot from supported and unsupported objects, as well as moving targets and long-range shots. In the last nine months, Simmons has taken his training to a new level by getting up early to hit the range. He spent many evenings, after work, shooting 10-12 positions in 90-second time frames. He fired hundreds of rounds each day.
The match was held in Collazone in Italy. After surviving tricky winds and bad wind calls Simmons found himself in the second place before going into the final two stages. He performed well in the final stages and won the overall race: “Paul Dallin tied me and it came down the fastest time for all the stages,” said Simmons. “I won the World Championship in 2023 by 23 seconds! Paul is an excellent shooter and competitor and was hard to beat. Congratulations on his second place finish! “Top Five shooters at IPRF Rimfire World Championships”
