Shane Smith is a smart guy who invented a triangular shaped patch. It was granted a patent. The U.S. Patent Office awarded a utility Patent for BoreSmith’s Triangle Patch (TM). This unique cleaning patch was designed by Shane Smith, a mathematician/physicist who employed his scientific and firearms knowledge to create innovative bore-cleaning products. BoreSmith’s Triangle Patch (TM) (aka Pyramid Patch), a clever cleaning patch, provides more surface area for the bore wall to be cleaned than a conventional round or square patch of equivalent size. Triangle Patches are also less likely to jam due to their unique geometry. The notches on the sides of the Triangle allow the patch sit more evenly on the jag without bunching up. The pleating on the Pyramid patch makes it less likely to jam. Unwanted 5-layer pleating is one of the reasons why conventional patches get stuck. The special notches on the Pyramid patch eliminate all or most of the 5-layer pleating. The patch will not bunch and the rod will also be less bowed. CLICK HERE to see Triangle Patches on Amazon. The Triangle patch is compatible with any standard jag, but it works best with BoreSmith’s dual-diameter JagBrush. There are four sizes of patch: 17-20 Caliber (or 22-27 Caliber), 27-35 Caliber (or 27-35 Caliber), and 35-58 Caliber. Note: Contrary to what you might see in the video, you should ALWAYS place brushes and patches first from the chamber end, using a bore guide fitted with a cleaning rod. Never insert a rod with a brush or jag into a bolt-action rifle’s muzzle. This can damage the crown of your barrel. The Triangle Patches are great with Boresmith’s dual-diameter bore brush:
