The Civilian Marksmanship Program has approved new divisions, for adults and juniors, that will be added to the CMP Action Pistol Program and implemented at the CMP Bianchi Cup in 2024. The approval of a new Rimfire division is a major development. This is a big deal, and it makes the Cup competition more affordable. This is a great move by the CMP. The CMP will also add “Provisional divisions” for Production Optics and Rimfire to the CMP’s new Rimfire Division. This 40-year-old action-pistol match features four events: Practical, Barricade Falling Plate and Moving Target. Each year, hundreds of competitors compete from around the globe. New Competition Classes: Rimfire Optics, Provisional Production Optics and Production OpticsThe CMP will introduce new competition classes in 2024. This should result in a significant increase of Bianchi Cup participants. All three new divisions will receive awards: Rimfire Production and Production Optics. The addition of a Rimfire Division is the biggest change. This division will encompass the same basic rules for each of the current setups — Open, Production/Production Optics, Metallic and Revolver. The Rimfire Division was created to encourage juniors who do not shoot centerfire pistols to participate as well as adults looking to warm up in a more affordable manner for the Bianchi cup. Action pistol will also have Provisional Divisions in Production and Production Optics (the current Production and Production Optics Divisions will remain unchanged). The rules for these new Provisional Divisions are derived from USPSA rules. According to the current CMP Action Pistol Rules, competitors will be divided by divisions: Metallic, Production Optic (Open), Provisional Production Optic (Provisional Production), or.22 Rimfire.
