After a long break, the Civilian Marksmanship Program Advanced Maintenance Classes (AMC), will return in 2024. These clinics are run by experienced instructors who teach students how to assemble antique rifles. The CMP website is the place to register for the AMC. Registration for multiple classes is allowed, but applicants will not be selected for more that one slot. CLASS INFO: http://thecmp.org/training-tech/advanced-maintenance-class The Advanced Maintenance Class (AMC) is a three-day course in Anniston, Alabama with training from the CMP Custom Shop staff. The course will cover topics such as headspace, barrel installation, component function/purpose, general rifle assembly and rifle/components maintenance. Instructional videos and visual presentations will be used to cover these topics. The Custom Shop will also host four “Buddy Class’ dates for those who wish to attend the classes with a partner. This is not a cheap program. The total cost of the 3-day AMC 2024 sessions will be $2350 ($1,200 tuition + $1150 for Expert rifle). The $1,200 tuition will be billed to you immediately after you purchase the course through the CMP eStore. $150 of the class tuition fee is considered a non-refundable “registration” fee. Class 8: October 25, 2024 – 27th, 2024 – BUDDY CLASS Students will receive individual instruction and assistance from Custom Shop Staff. Students will also visit Talladega Marksmanship Park in order to view the grounds, and test-fire their rifles. The classes are extremely popular and registration will be done through a lottery system. The lottery registration will begin on November 27 and continue until December 22, 2023. The fine print:
The total cost of the AMC in 2024 will be $2350 ($1,200 tuition + $1150 for Expert rifle). The $1,200 tuition will be charged immediately after you purchase the course through the eStore. ($150 of the tuition fee is a “registration fee”) If you cancel within 30 days of class start, you will forfeit an additional $300. The deadline for class payment is February 16, 2024. The registrants will be entered into an electronic lottery that will randomly assign 20 seats for each class. A stand-by list of 20 additional participants will be created for each class date. These stand-by lists were created due to an historically high cancellation rate. Questions:
