CMP Awards Over $ 300,000 in Scholarships for Marksmanship Athletes from 2024-2025The Civilian Marksmanship Program Scholarship Committee (CMP) has awarded 142 scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year to outstanding junior marksmen. The CMP Scholarship Program, with the generous contribution of $30,000 from the Garand Collectors Association, awarded $308,000 worth of new and recurring scholarship awards: 76 scholarships for $1,000, 17 scholarships for $3,000, 24 scholarships for $5,000, and Repeat $5000 (four times) scholarships. The CMP awarded four new repeat $5,000 scholarships, totaling $20,000 for each recipient over four years. These scholarships will be available to the candidates for their entire 4-year college career. Special Community Scholarship Program
The Talladega Superspeedway, Alabama, donated an additional $5,000 to the CMP Community Scholarship. This scholarship is reserved for students who live in the districts surrounding CMP facilities located in Anniston/Talladega (Alabama) and Port Clinton/Camp Perry, Ohio. Peyton Whitelaw, from Oxford, AL, received the $5,000 donation this year. The CMP Scholarship Program awarded 16 Community Scholarships of $1,000 each, totaling $21,000 in support for the surrounding areas. The CMP Scholarship Program is comprised of:
The CMP is proud of its support for junior marksmen to continue their education. The CMP can achieve its goal by awarding scholarships to those who demonstrate exceptional talent, determination, and citizenship in the field of marksmanship. CMP Scholarships can be awarded to high school JROTC and 4-H members, as well as other junior shooting clubs. The applicant must be an American citizen, have a good moral character and be a scholar markman. The Civilian Marksmanship Program, a 501(c),(3) non-profit corporation chartered by the federal government, is dedicated to firearm safety and marksmanship training. It is dedicated both to firearm safety training and marksmanship, as well as to the promotion and development of marksmanship competitions for citizens of the United States.
