November 11, 2021 CMP offers $1000 college scholarships to young shooters. The Civilian Marksmanship program (CMP), invites young shooters to apply CMP scholarships for the school year 2022-2023. CMP offers $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will be enrolled in college in fall 2022. CMP has given over $1 million in scholarships grants since 2005. In their senior year of highschool, the winners of scholarship grants came from JROTC, 4-H groups and other shooting clubs. CMP created a scholarship program called the “Carolyn Hines Scholarship Program” in 2020. It also added a $5000.00 individual scholarship to be awarded for the senior who best embodies Dr. Hines’ ideals. CMP Scholarship Application Deadline March 22, 2022. CMP Scholarships are awarded based on merit. High school seniors who are involved in rifle or pistol marksmanship contests. Candidates must provide a list of awards and a history of rifle or pistol competitions. The applicant must also submit a transcript from high school and an academic GPA of 3.0 or less. CMP is accepting scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 freshman year. One-year scholarships can be used to pay for any accredited post-secondary education program or vocational training. Applicants must submit a list of past/present pistol or rifle competition history, awards, as well as future expectations for the sport. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must provide proof of participation. This includes match bulletins, photos, or CMP Competition Tracker printouts. A nomination/recommendation letter from a coach or instructor is also required.
