May 8th, 2023CMP Western Games Set for October 2023The Western CMP Games, CMP Highpower (HP), and CMP Pistol Matches will be held October 10-15, 2023. The CMP Western Games, CMP Highpower, and CMP Pistol Matches, which are held annually, will take place October 10-15, 2023. These matches include popular events like the Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, Modern Military, Rimfire Sportster, and Carbine as well as pistol matches. The CMP Highpower Matches will include 80-Shot Competitions, a Team Match, Service Rifle EIC Matches, and a Mid Range 3×600 Rifle Event for Match Rifle or Service Rifles, FTR, F-TR or AR Tactical Rifles. The CMP has decided to return the Western CMP Games to their original time slot in October. The CMP’s Western Games, which were held in March last year, will be held again on October 10-15, 2023. Registration for the October event will open in June. The CMP decided to move Western Games after conducting a survey with competitors. The results (155 submissions), though spring was preferred (65%) over fall (34%), were not the final decision. In the early months of the year, spring training for baseball can cause inflated costs for hotels, rental vehicles, and flights. An October event should mean more affordable travel/accommodations for Western Games participants. This should allow more competitors the opportunity to attend events at Ben Avery.
