Combat Handguns in July/August 2023 – Deadpool meets Wick?

Welcome to the July/August edition of Combat Handguns, America’s definitive handgun publication for over 40 years. This issue gives you a look at some of the newest and best handguns available on the market. And boy, do they have some great ones!

Combat Handguns: July/August 2023 – The Latest and Greatest Handguns in the Firearm Scene

Our cover guns are proof of that. Take the Dan Wesson DWX for example. It’s a pretty pistol, but it is also a very accurate gun as you will see in our report starting on page 28. We put it in the hand of some “Backyard Dads” just for fun, and the real fun began.

The new Canik Mete MC9 deserves the same attention. Canik is making its first entry into the micro-compact category after the Mete line’s huge success. Garrett Lucas’ article on page 14 may encourage you to set aside money for one of these miniature jewels. You won’t require much money, as the MSRP of this well-built little gun is only $440.

You probably missed this year’s Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT) in Las Vegas, don’t worry. We were there for you, walking the aisles and checking out what was new in different categories.

This issue contains our SHOT reviews of 17 new revolvers and 21 new defensive pistols, as well as 28 new handgun loads. You’re going be amazed at what the gun industry has to offer in 2023.

If you can’t find anything in those 66 new items that you would like to bring along to your next trip to the range, it might be time to see your doctor. Stockpile also includes seven more new products, so those who want to know about the latest and greatest will have picked the right magazine.

The Hits Keep Coming

And the hits just keep coming! The features are varied, from a comparison between two 5-inch competition pistols to a review of a new Taurus compact.22 that will make any day at the range a blast.

Two self-defense experts also explain why the old axiom “Don’t Bring a Knife to a Gunfight” is not true. You may need to rethink your EDC gear.

Massad Ayoob is perhaps the last expert on armed self defense and the aftermath of such incidents. He has been a shooting expert witness for almost five decades. His “Self-Defense & The Law’ column will show you what can happen if your lawyer isn’t vigilant in selecting the jury for a self-defense trial.

We always appreciate reader feedback. Let us know what you liked about this issue–or didn’t like–by shooting us an email at [email protected].

Until next time, from the editorial team of CH, we say: Carry on!
