It is very useful to have your ballistics information, i.e. Your “come-ups” should be placed in a convenient location. You can then instantly see your elevation at various target distances. This can be a great help to a PRS/NRL competitor in timed stages. Varminters can also benefit from a “Dope” display that shows elevation at different distances. Our varmint hunters targeted p-dogs at distances ranging from 80 yards to 500+. PRC DOPE Ballistic Data Turbo The PRC Dope Roller QD Turret is a low-profile display that provides windage and elevation information. You can see the “dope”, without having to move from behind the rifle. Rotate the knob to see data at different distances. Wrapping a simple adhesive address label measuring 1” by 3” around the outside of the DOPE Roller is the easiest way to place ballistic data. Precision Rifle Components sells this handy quick-detachable roller for $64.95. MDT MLOK Card Holder The MDT Card Holder features an adjustable neck that allows you to position your ballistics information for optimal viewing. Data entries are written onto a reusable, Velcro-attached card. The Data Card Holder Kit includes hardware for mounting to any M-Lok Rail. The card holder also fits directly into an MDT ACC chassis mounting point. This MDT kit contains: M-LOK Data Cardholder, Wet Erase Data Card and Wet Erase Marker. The Card Holder sticks about 6.7″ out when fully extended. Arm links can be removed in order to reduce the length of the arm. The unit can be folded flat for storage. This complete kit costs $59.95 at Creedmoor Sports. Warne Universal Card Holder The Warne Universal Card Holder attaches easily to the scope tube in either a left or right configuration for a universal fit. The data is displayed in an easy-to-read location for quick and accurate target changes. The articulating arm makes it possible to store the device in a low profile when not in use. The Warne Universal Data Card Holder is available at Creedmoor Sports for $70.95. There are three ring sizes: 30mm, 34mm, and 35mm. A 50-pack Warne Data Card labels refills are currently on sale for $9.95. Ballistics table mounted on scope-coverYou can also place your ballistics cards on the back of the front flip up scope cover. Forum member Greg C., aka “Rem40X”, uses this set-up. You can easily check your windage and altitude drops with your ‘come up’ table on the flip-up covers without having to leave your shooting position. Greg tells us that he has been using his trajectory table on the front cover of his scope for several years. He thought he’d share. It’s not hidden under my armpit, but in plain sight. The table is far away enough for my aging eyes to read it easily. Use clear tape to apply on the front cover of the objective. Chase Stroud gave him the tip to do this. The numbers are clearly visible with the tape behind the action. This “cheap” trick does work, as Bryan won the match by a convincing margin over 220 other competitors. READ the Match Report. Cheap but NOT so Effective — Numbers On Hand Many of us have written some come-ups using a marking pencil on the back of our hand or forearm. This can work if there are only a few distances involved, such as 100 and 300 yards. If you want to create a complete Come-up Table, then get one of the holders shown above. It is not a good idea to write numbers on your skin. ….
