Crack Shot Kirsten Joy Weiss — A Modern-Day Annie Oakley

In an episode of NRA’s All Access, talented sharpshooter Kirsten Weiss is featured. The show covers Kirsten’s development as a competitor shooter and her success as an artist of trick shots with her own YouTube channel. Here is the All Access segment, which features many of Kirsten’s most famous tricks shots.

Kirsten talks about her shooting background and how she wants “to spread the positive reality of the shooting sports”. Kirsten explains that “the fun challenge and joy I get from shooting is important to my because I wanted to be an example.” When the media says that guns are bad and no one uses them for good, they can respond with “Well, what about [Kirsten ]’?”
Kirsten: “I feel it is important that young girls have someone they can look up too… I am responsible for showing young shooters, especially females coming up, that you can respect yourselves and shoot a firearm as well.”
Kirsten, a gifted “natural” shot, started shooting relatively late — at the age of 16. She learned quickly despite her relatively late start and was able to earn a spot on the University of Nebraska’s shooting team. Kirsten literally stepped into a whole new world: “During my career, I have had a lot success.” I’ve been to World Cups…in Zagreb, Croatia and in Munich, Germany. I’ve won National Championships and made the U.S. Olympic Short List, so it’s a good career.”
Proper Cheek Weld

You want to keep your head in the same place on the stock every time. This will help ensure proper eye-to sight/optic alignment, and consistent rifle weight.

Kirsten explains in this video how to find the optimal position for your head when using a rifle stock. This may require adjusting either the cheekpiece or the length of the pull. Kirsten then demonstrates how to maintain a consistent cheek weld shot-after-shot.
Kirsten tells me: “Many people don’t consider shooting a sport. But it is. I would even say that it’s an art form. We don’t really know if it’s art, sport or magic, but few shooters possess the flexibility or skill to make this upside down shot…
