Over the years, the VP9 has been a popular choice for concealed carry. H&K continued to improve the P30 platform and made improvements that took it further. Now, Davidson’s joins the VP9 in a unique version of the popular platform. Davidson’s Exclusive H&K VP9 Starting with the “B”–or “Push-Button”–model, Davidson’s swaps out the everyday black polymer frame for gray. The H&K black hostile-environment-finished, machined steel slide looks great with the new gray frame. The frame is almost unchanged and retains the same great ergonomics of the original, except for the aesthetics. Three interchangeable backstraps are available from Davidson’s for a perfect fit. The slide, which has the same forward and back cocking serrations as the cocking serrations at the rear, is where the majority of the change takes effect. The charging supports are slightly larger and have some jiping to improve grip. For those with weaker hand strength, it will be easier to manipulate the slide. A new sight configuration allows you to ride atop the slide, with a high-visibility front and a “clean” black serrated back. Davidson’s has included the VP9 slide with an optical cut for those who prefer optics. Davidson’s exclusive VP9 will include two 17-round magazines instead of the standard 15-round mags. For those who require them, however, there are also 15- and 10-round magazines. Editor’s note: I spoke to H&K about the optic cut slide. They informed me that it was a proprietary H&K cut and that all optics will require mounting plates. Holosun is currently working on an optic that will mount directly to the VP9. According to the rep, it should be available within a few months. It is worth noting, however, that manufacturing can be unpredictable and may take longer.
