They are boiled in boiling water for 5 minutes. Then you can remove them, cool them, and then press them into the ears. You don’t want anything boiling hot to go in your ears. They are safe to be handled once they have cooled enough but not completely cooled off. They don’t change in shape once they are fully cooled. Now you have custom-fit hearing protection with up to 31 NRR protection. The best part? Modern chemistry allows you to shape a compound at the temperatures you can handle. You can then heat up the stove and boil more water until you get it right. There are also upgrades. You can choose the Percussive filter, which dampens the peak intensity of sounds but still allows the ambient levels to be heard.
