Do you know how to tell when elections are coming? When Democrat lawmakers pretend they don’t support gun control. It’s the magical moment in America when we are asked to forget our past actions and accept that they are different now. This is the real deal. RELATED STORY Will Gun Control Hurt Democrats in the Upcoming Midterm Elections. Biden’s Gun Control: Democrats Distance themselves from Biden’s Lawmakers During the recent anniversary at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school shooting, Biden did what Democrats do. He advocated for more gun control. According to The Hill, Biden tried Monday to revive his gun control agenda by calling upon Congress to act. Biden stated that he had asked Congress for $500 million more to reduce violent crime and increase funding for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and U.S Marshals. Many gun control activists and groups feel frustrated and disenfranchised by this. Guns Down America co-founder Igor Volsky told The Hill that they had been promised by Senate Majority leader Schumer in March, April that there would a vote in the summer. Then it was pushed back even more. They’re using the same old playbook of promising all sorts of things during the campaign, and then failing to deliver when they’re in control.” Despite knowing they won’t keep their campaign promises, Democrat voters will continue to vote for them. They can rely on this unwavering devotion, even in the face of obvious dishonesty. Despite their best efforts, Americans aren’t likely to believe what they say about gun control. The Art of the Stall Despite Democrats controlling the White House and both branches of Congress they refuse to act. Many Democrats are aware of how vulnerable they could be if they push such unpopular measures. Many question the Majority Leader’s promises as two bills that were passed by the House in March are still sitting. Senate Majority Leader Schumer promised gun-control groups that the Senate would vote upon the bills by the summer of 2021. They have not yet made it to the floor for discussion. According to The Hill, “Now Schumer must decide whether to force a vote regarding background checks legislation. This is because there aren’t 10 Republicans in the 50-50 Senate willing and able to vote for it.” They add that while such a vote would place Republicans on record as opposing a law that more than 80 percent support, it could become a future political liability to vulnerable Democrats running for office in swing states like Arizona, Georgia and New Hampshire. Unsubstantiated statistics aside, the majority of Americans don’t support more gun control. However, they recognize the dangers of anti-gun measures. That is a good thing. Their policies will make it less likely that they will push them. This is the real win for Americans. Beto O’Rourke is a great example of Democrat’s willingness to put their constituents’ interests ahead of their own. It took him just over two decades to go from “Hell yeah, we’re going take your AR-15” into “I’m interested in taking nothing from anyone.” Sign up for the Personal Defense World newsletter today!
