Double-Decker Indoor shooting ranges in USA and EuropeJuly 11th, 2023Bet you have never seen anything similar before — a double-decker indoor shooting range. Lotus Gunworks, located in Jensen Beach, Florida operates a supersized twin-level, indoor shooting range with a two-story steel funnel bullettrap. This version of Action Target’s Total Containment Trap, nicknamed the Lotus 8/11 because of the number of steel sheets used to make it (eight on the bottom slope and 11 on the top slope), is the first of its type. Robbie Abell, of Lotus Gunworks, said that “no one has ever seen anything like this range before.” Abell came up the two-story idea when it became apparent that the new Lotus Building in Jensen Beach wasn’t wide enough to accommodate two side-byside ranges AND an entire gun store. The only way to have two ranges was to build a double-decker shooting range. Both levels would shoot into the same bullettrap. Indoor ranges need ventilation to remove lead and dust particles. Carey’s Small Arms Range Ventilation installed an air-replacement system that can replace the entire range air every 80 second. Other Multi-Level Shooting RangesWhile it may be the first indoor double-decker shooting range, the Lotus Range does not have the first two story bullet trap. There are other multi-level shooting ranges, but they don’t have a giant bullet trap. Some of the multilevel ranges in Europe can be even bigger and more sophisticated. The Swiss have a very popular underground shooting range. The Br?nig indoor facility is a large, deluxe facility with a 300m range underground and multi-level shooting stations.
Here’s an example of a Dutch Double Deck Range. Check out Schietsportvereniging (SSV) Katwijk, a great twin-level range in Holland featuring electronic targets with displays at each shooting station (on both levels): Similar Posts:Tags: Bruenig Range, Double-Deck Range, Indoor Tunnel, Lotus Gunworks, Shooting Ranges, Switzerland Tunnel
