EAA Unveils Girsan MC P35 Hi-Power Clone

The Tisas B9, a Turkish-made clone was also briefly available, but it was discontinued due to quality problems. EAA is trying to revive the John Browning design by using a new Turkish clone. We’re now seeing the Girsan MC P35 in person. Browning’s accomplishments are not repeated. However, Saive was responsible to create the double-stack magazine for pistols that would become the heart of Hi-Power. He would also design the FAL. The Hi-Power was immediately well-received and would continue to be a popular pistol worldwide. The Hi Power was designed to be powerful, accurate, durable, and have a high (for the time) capacity. The Girsan MC P35 should be as accurate and reliable as the original, assuming it is a decently produced reproduction. The capacity of the Girsan MC P35 has been increased by shipping 15-round magazines that are flush-fitting and more durable than the original 13-round design. The Girsan MC P35 includes an ambidextrous safety, an improved external extractor, and a rounded no-bite hammer. However, the magazine disconnect safety is one feature that was retained by the Girsan MC P35. This was an original military requirement for the Hi-Power. It was added to prevent inept troops from accidentally shooting themselves while cleaning out the gun. This device makes the trigger less effective and, in my opinion, adds more work to the operation of the gun. Disclosure: Some links are affiliate links. Although its popularity has declined in recent years, the Hi-Power sidearm was still a very popular weapon for many decades. Because spare parts and magazines were so common, the Hi-Power was the preferred pistol of many American special forces soldiers who worked abroad during this period. It’s safe to assume that this iconic design won’t be changing, considering the millions of Hi-Powers that have been produced and distributed over the years. Parts availability should not be a problem if you are considering the Girsan MCP35. Magazines, aftermarket upgrades, and accessories such as holsters are still easily available. Although the Hi-Power is heavier, heavier, and more primitive than many handguns on today’s market, it is still an excellent design and one that one can feel confident in entrusting their lives to. The Girsan MC P35 is a well-made clone. A pair of wooden grips with a leather shoulder holster could make it a classy CCW setup. It’s always great to see classics kept alive.
