Electronic Targets for Mid-Range & Long-Range at Camp Perry

Electronic Targets for Mid-Range

This year, electronic targets will be used for the CMP National Matches in Camp Perry. Civilian Marksmanship Program has announced that for the first time ever, ALL National Mid-Range & Long Range Events will be fired at outdoor electronic targets. The Mid-Range & Long Range matches are scheduled for August 5-10 in 2024 as part of the National Matches held at Camp Perry near Port Clinton, Ohio. The electronic target system has monitors at every firing point which instantly display accurate scores. This helps competitors assess their shot placements and wind corrections. The electronic targets eliminate the need for pit work. This reduces the time required for each match, allowing shooters to spend less time in hot summer sun. Brian Williams, CMP Highpower manager, demonstrates and explains the accuracy of KTS electronic targets in this video. The Long Range Series includes 10 individual and team competitions on Camp Perry’s Viale Range, which is 1,000 yards long. There is also a Mid-Range Match at 600 yards. The Mid-Range Match is likely to sell out as only 50 targets will be assembled. Competitors should sign up for the match as soon as they can. CMP’s National Long Range Matches include Match Rifle (also known as Service Rifle), Palma, F T/R, F-Open or AR Tactical. The events are open for both adult and junior competitors regardless of their experience level. Click HERE to learn more about the National Mid-Range & Long Range Matches. The CMP decided to use the technology for this year’s Nationals after successfully testing the electronic targets at two spring events. Sara Rozanski is the CMP’s Highpower Rifle coordinator. She reports that “using the targets for Long Range in our Eastern Games in North Carolina, in May, and again at Camp Perry in June for a test-match really encouraged us to provide them for competitors at the National Matches.” We received a great deal of positive feedback and we hope that bringing the technology into Camp Perry will enhance the experience for those who attend the National Matches. The CMP 2024 National Matches are scheduled to run from July 11 through August 10 in all divisions – pistol, rimfire, and centerfire.
