Emil also explains how the wind value can fluctuate in speed and velocity. Emil also explains some environmental conditions, such as mirage, that can reveal wind conditions. Video TWO: Determining Wind Direction Key Point in Video — Find The Boil
Emil explains how to determine wind direction with an optic. You can use a spotting scope, riflescope or binoculars in order to find the “Boil” condition, which is when light waves rise straight up. If the wind blows directly at you or from your rear, it will create a vertical boil in your optics. This can be identified by traversing your scope or optics until the boil runs straight up.
