The shotgun is a versatile firearm that can be used for hunting or home defense. Not everyone can handle the 12 gauge recoil. Some people have smaller frames, so they require a shorter pull. This is especially true for youth who participate in shooting sports. Escort Shotguns offers the PS Youth 20-gauge shotgun.
The Escort Shotguns PS Youth 20,-Gauge
The Escort PS Youth is a great place to help youth start shooting sports. It is lightweight at 6 pounds and measures 41 inches in length, making it easy to load, carry, and shoot. Mounted sling-studs make it easy to carry and provide firing support.
The receiver is anodized aluminum alloy receiver with gripping surfaces. It includes a synthetic polymer stock and forend. The stock also features a rubber recoil TrioPad that provides additional comfort when firing. To adjust the length of the pull, spacers are available to be added or taken out. Stock shims allow for adjustment of cast and drop, making it the perfect fit.
The semi-automatic, gas powered 20-gauge has a 22-inch barrel and a 7mm checkered, ventilated and anti-glare, rib. The rib is finished with a traditional brass bead sight. The receiver has an 11mm groove to accommodate optics mounts.
The PS Youth chamber is designed for 3-inch magnum 20 gauge shells and features Escort’s Smart-Valve piston system. This ensures flawless performance on all shotshells, 2 3/4 inches and 3 inches. The PS Youth can handle steel shots as well, even if you use specific chokes. The multi-choke system also includes five chokes: F, IM and M, IC and CYL.
A 4+1 capacity can be added to the PS Youth. A migratory plug can also be installed to reduce the capacity to 2+1. The PS Youth is safe until you are ready to shoot.
The PS Youth is available in four finishes, including black and three camo patterns. Realtree Timber, Mossy Oak Bottomland and Realtree max-5 are available as camo patterns.
Editor’s Note
The 20-gauge round is very useful for home defense, especially for those with smaller frames. The 20 gauge is a slight step down from the 12 gauge and has less recoil, making it a great round for close-quarters defense. The 20-gauge is a great choice for anyone in the house, even though many consider the 12-gauge to reign supreme.
However, I recommend that anyone who intends to use it for home defense practice do so with caution. It’s still an assault rifle, so you must be able to safely operate it before you risk your life.
