RELATED STORY B&T PDW SD Suppressed Offers Light Recoil for Better Follow-Up The Zanders Exclusive DRD Tactical Sub-6 rifles are made of aluminum and have a black hardcoat anodized finish. They are extremely lightweight and easy to use. The steel is placed in the right places to ensure a sturdy and robust construction. The barrel extension uses an 8-bolt 2-stake Trunion system for greater durability and less wear. Picatinny rail runs the length of the rail, which is also attached to the trunnion systems. This allows for ample space for accessories and optics. Additional options are available by placing MLOK slots around the rail. The Sub-6 is chambered in 5.56 and operates on a proprietary direct impingement gas piston operating system. DRD’s 5-position adjustable gas block, which is a tool-free design, has an oversized knob that allows for quick adjustment. The bolt features a dovetailed gas key that incorporates rail slots. This eliminates tilt and reduces friction. The Sub-6 has a Magpul Zhukov S 5-position folding buttstock. The stock can be folded so that it can still be fired. The stock can be adjusted vertically by the integrated Picatinny rail that is located on the buttplate. The non-reciprocating charging handle is only for right-hand use, so left-handed shooters will have to adapt. The Sub-6 can be disassembled without tools, just like the gas block adjustment. To reduce wobble, the tension screw under the grip must be tightened with a screwdriver. The Sub-6 is an exclusive Zanders product and is only available in black. In the coming months, however, Sub-6 will be available in Blue, Ghost, Sandstone and other colors.
