It’s been almost one year since Alec Baldwin, an anti-gun actor, shot a crew member. This led to an attempt at misdirection. The Rust shooting revealed much about Hollywood, including blatant hypocrisy and a lack of knowledge about guns and terrible firearm safety protocols. The FBI finally admitted that guns can’t fire by themselves, as pro-gun rights groups had been claiming for years.
FBI Finds in the Alec Baldwin Shooting Case Show That the Gun Didn’t Fire Itself
Let’s first discredit Baldwin’s claim that he didn’t pull the trigger. Although I won’t speculate on why he pulled the trigger here, the claim that he didn’t does not hold water.
In an interview with ABC News, the actor stated that he would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger on them.
He was filming a western. He would be shooting people. Gun control advocates want people believing that guns can fire, even though they know they aren’t. Baldwin has been making movies for years and knows that it is essential to pull the trigger to make it look authentic. A movie in which cowboys point their guns at someone and it miraculously goes off would not be a success at the box office.
Baldwin and other Hollywood stars aren’t stopping them from trying to convince the public that guns can kill people. Baldwin wants people to believe this now more than ever. In a moment of strange honesty, the FBI confirmed what we knew. The gun Alec Baldwin used to shoot Halyna Hutchins was like all other guns. It couldn’t fire.
ABC News reports that the gun used in the fatal shooting at the Rust movie set could not possibly have been fired without pulling trigger. According to an FBI forensic report obtained by ABC News Friday,
The report states:
The report stated that the gun was capable of detonating a primer without the trigger being pulled when the hammer was struck straight. This is normal for this type revolver.
Video shows that he was not striking the hammer directly, but his finger is visible on the trigger.
Ongoing Investigation
The FBI conducted an accidental discharge test as part of their ongoing investigation to verify Baldwin’s claims. They tried the F.lli Pietta single action revolver in quarter-cocked, half-cocked, and fully cocked positions and all gave the same result. It wouldn’t fire if it didn’t pull the trigger.
Fox 10 reports that the Santa Fe Sheriffs’ Detectives received the FBI’s complete forensic reports on August 2. They were then sent to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Inspector (OMI) “for review.”
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is still being assisted by the Suffolk County Police Department in New York. The New York department assists the Santa Fe Sheriff Office in acquiring and processing Baldwin’s phone records.
Fox 10 continues: “‘The District Attorney’s office has been working alongside Suffolk County PD and Baldwin’s lawyer in order to acquire the telephone records,’ Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan mendoza stated. “Once Suffolk County PD has completed its agency assist and sent those records to New Mexico law enforcement our detectives will have to then thoroughly review those telephone records for evidentiary purposes.”
I hope Hollywood learns from this. Even if you have a prop gun, it is important to ensure that no live ammunition remains. It is basic gun safety. Baldwin and the production company are complicit with negligence at the minimum.
The most important lesson for gun control advocates is that guns can’t fire on their own. They need to be fed by a living individual.
Guns aren’t criminals, they don’t kill people, they don’t have thoughts, and they don’t have any sentient abilities. Alec Baldwin is the only person who can pick them up and pull the trigger. It’s over.
