The popularity of red dot-sighted pistols is growing, but many still have concerns. Red dot sights can add weight and bulk to a gun. If you have poor eyesight, electronic optics may not be an option. Meprolight’s new Mepro FT Bullseye front view was created to address these issues and still offer an improvement over standard iron sights. Meprolight’s Mepro FT Bullseye rear view was the first to use the concept, but the front sight offers many advantages. It is smaller, lighter, simpler, and more battery-free than the red dot sight. The sight is powered by fiber optics, tritium, and glows brightly in all lighting conditions. It also eliminates the need for you to change batteries. There are many modern red dots on market, but even the most durable models have a higher chance of failure than the Mepro FT Bullseye. Pistol red dots are also more costly and more difficult to install. Mepro’s new sight does not require any additional milling of the slide, optics mounting plate or lens mounting plate. It simply replaces the factory front view. This setup does not require a rear sight. The Mepro FT Bullseye is approximately the same height as a standard front-sight and should work with most holster models. Its name comes from the way the sight picture is acquired. The bullseye is created by placing the sight’s dot at the center of the fiber optic ring. This allows the shooter to know they are on target. The sight uses the standard handgun training technique of focusing on the pistol’s sight at the front to create a bullseye. The Mepro FT Bullseye is bright and visible at night and compatible with existing guns and accessories. It can also be powered on until the tritium runs out.
