Mossberg even took design tips from Jerry Miculek when it was first launched. Mossberg has released a few hunting models of their 940 autoloader, but this time they are going tactical. The new Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical comes in a box with features that make it ideal for defensive use. These include an optics-ready receiver and a 7-shot magazine tube. However, the heart of the 940 Pro Tactical’s gas system. The 940 gas system is durable, reliable, and fast. It can cycle a wide range of loads reliably without any issues and Mossberg claims it can last up 1,500 rounds before it needs to be cleaned. This is a lot of trigger time. The 940 Pro Tactical also has corrosion-resistant internal parts and an anodized followinger for a smoother action. It is low-profile to allow direct mounting of RMSc pattern red dots. It has also been drilled, tapped and tapped for rail-mounted optics. For those who prefer iron sights (which on the 940 Pro Tactical include fiber optic), a cover plate is included. For those who prefer to use iron sights, the barrel can be threaded to accept Mossberg Accu-Choke. MSRP is $1120.
