September 29th, 2021 GAP Grind This Weekend In Tennessee — Huge prize table This weekend, October 3-3, 2021, the 2021 GAP Grind PRO/Am will be held at the K&M Precision Shooting Complex, Tennessee. This 3-day event is the most popular PRS Pro-Am Tactical match. It features both professional and amateur classes, with individual and team competition. Match organizers expect 400 competitors to send around 80,000 rounds downrange. There will be lots of prizes. The prize table boasts gear worth “hundreds and thousands of dollars” donated by scores of sponsors. More than 20 companies will have booths to display and sell their products.

GAP Grind is a “high-tempo” match that has minimal down-time. Over 20+ stages, competitors will fire 200+ shots on a variety moving, reactive, and steel targets up to 1,200 yards. The size and difficulty of the targets will vary depending on the shooter’s position, distance and time. Most stages include “stressors” — i.e. There are usually time limits and/or required movements. Nearly 400 competitors will be competing in the 2021 GAP Grind. Half of them are experienced shooters, and the other half are new to the sport. Attracting new shooters is key to the growth of shooting sports. Pro-Am format seems to be the best way to attract “new blood”. GAP Grind is a competition where experienced shooters share their knowledge with new shooters and guide them through the competition. GAP Grind Hardware The GAP Grind will have the most up-to-date PRS hardware. In recent seasons, many top competitors have moved from the 6.5/6mm Creedmoor to a smaller, more efficient 6mm dasher, 6BRA, and other 6mm cartridges. The 6mm Dasher is more accurate than the 6.5 Creedmoor and has less recoil. The new magazine designs make it possible to feed shorter cartridges with great reliability.
