There are a few important things to keep in mind when choosing a small pistol safe. 1. Keep the safe hidden. Don’t put it on top a bedside. Burglars will often search the bedroom for valuables. Attach your pistol safe using bolts to a solid surface. Use a steel cable. 2. You should regularly change/charge batteries in electronic handgun safes. It’s pointless to keep a self-defense gun in a safe that you can’t access because the battery is dead. Electronic safes must always have a backup key-lock! 3. Do not store valuables like credit cards, jewelry, car keys and car keys in compact pistolsafes. Even when they are screwed down, these small pistol safes are known to be targets for thieves. 4. Remember the KISS Principle. Some of the newest pistol safes have WiFi capabilities so they can communicate with an APP on a smartphone. It may be fun for techies, but it may not be the best option. You want a gun safe that can open/close without wifi and without a power source.
