February 7, 2022 The 2022 Berger Southwest Nationals will begin later this week at Phoenix’s Ben Avery Shooting Facility. The match will run from February 9-13, 2022*. It starts with the mid-range competition of F-Class and High Power (sling), rifles, and then moves on to long-range matches. This cart is inexpensive and can be used to transport gear to major matches, where you need to move from one firing berm or another over the course a day. F-Class and High Power shooters have a lot of gear. These photos were taken at Berger SWN. You can buy a factory-made, purposely-built cart to do the hauling. It folds up and has all the bells & whistles. The Creedmoor Sports CRC-1 (photo left) is a reliable, high-quality product that works well. These carts are used by top camp Perry shooters. The Creedmoor CRC-1 cart is $499.95. For a fraction of the price ($69.99), you can get a heavy-duty cart that will carry all your gear, but it doesn’t fold down. The Harbor Freight Welding Cart is shown in the top photo. It was seen at the Berger Southwest Nationals. This rig carries a rifle, bipod, folding chair and shooting mat. It also has a rear sandbag and ammo box. This cart is now available for $69.99 The overall size is 29-1/2 inches L x 20 W x 49 H and width between the side rails is 18? The wheels (with tires), are 20 3/4? For smooth rolling, the wheels are 20 3/4″ in diameter. You can easily spend $30.00 to get the large-diameter wheels, axle and cart if you make your own. This cart comes with air-filled tires. The Harbor Freight Welding Cart is available for upgrade to be used at the range. With a few bungee strings (and some creativity), you can adapt the cart to carry your gun gear. You can easily add side-panels to the bottom unit and a barrel-holding system to the cross-tube to enhance the basic cart. This prevents gear and rifles from slipping forward. A small piece of wood placed under the bottom panel will give it a little lift to keep it from sinking into the dirt and gravel. * The Berger SW Nationals usually ends on Sunday. However, the official schedule includes Monday February 14, in case of bad weather.
