You may be jogging along a familiar street when suddenly you are being followed and grabbed and thrown into an SUV. The abductors could be strangers, or more often, people you know and trust. The modern education curriculum does not teach situational awareness or how to avoid being kidnapped. We are responsible for our safety.
There are many reasons why kidnappings can occur in the United States. However, most often, the kidnapper/kidnappers have a sexual interest or a desire to abduct a girl. It could be to satisfy their insatiable needs or, worse, to sell the kidnapped girl or woman into prostitution or sex trafficking. Mentally disturbed people can also abduct their victims for their murderous purposes.
Abductions can happen anywhere, from wealthy neighborhoods to small towns and the inner city. There seems to be very little you can do to stop this from happening. However, this is not true. A combination of emotional control, mental power, and explosive physical means can help a woman reduce her chances of becoming a statistic when she is faced with a potentially fatal situation.
How to Avoid Being Kidnapped
Avoid walking through a dark alleyway.
Abduction Awareness
You can reduce your chances of being kidnapped or other serious crimes by becoming more aware of your surroundings. This is the first step in how to avoid being kidnapped. It’s much easier than most people realize. It is difficult for people to give up their attention-consuming habits, such as listening to music on headphones or talking on the phone. Although information technology has made great strides, it doesn’t prevent abductions from happening. It actually helps it.

How to create a home defense plan that actually works
It has become so common that common sense is no longer sufficient to appreciate the many luxuries that portable handheld “computers” (or phones) can offer. It can put you in danger that could have been avoided. Always keep your head up and walk confidently, so you can scan the path ahead of you. If you feel someone is watching you, look side-to-side. Let them know that you care about them. Engaging with your surroundings (and others) is part of how to avoid being kidnapped. This alone can be a powerful deterrent.
Avoidance
Knowing how to avoid being kidnapped is part of knowing how to prevent it. If you feel that you are being watched, but aren’t sure, tie your shoe and wait to see if anyone else around you slows down. To be safe, you can always go to a nearby public place and call police. You should be cautious about cars driving at a snail’s pace on the street next to you, or suspicious vans parked in a garage right next to your car. Trust your instincts and be cautious if you don’t feel comfortable with something. All suspicious situations should be reported to the police.
Resisting a Kidnapper
You would assume that if you are threatened by a weapon, you should do what the kidnapper tells. This would make sense to most people, but it is wrong. You have a lower chance of survival if you are taken from an abduction scene. Instead of fighting your way out, your chances of survival drop significantly. You will attract attention to your location if you resist. Attention is precisely what a kidnapper wants. He doesn’t want to be unable to control his target.
You don’t want to be that person, or that problem, who kicks, yells and scratches, bites, pokes and attacks like a wild animal. He will not tolerate you if you become too difficult for him to handle. This will increase his likelihood of letting you go and running away. You can also use a variety of personal self-defense tools to your advantage, such as batons, mace and stun guns. This will make it more likely that he will give up on you and move on to something better.
What to do if you are kidnapped
It is important to be aware of your surroundings and to fight back when things don’t go according to plan. It is possible that you could be taken hostage in an unknown location. However, this is not necessarily the end of your road. If you have some common sense and practical tips and techniques, it won’t be.
First, calm down. Your adrenaline may be flowing after an attack. Panic or shock can set in. Relax your body and mind, no matter how difficult it is. To determine facts about your abduction, your senses will need to be fully engaged. If they are armed, count the number of men present and note what their appearance and sounds are. Make mental notes of how fast you are moving in your vehicle, and any landmarks. You should also take stock of your physical condition, including any visual injuries, internal pain or broken bones, as well as the state of your incapacitation. It is important to determine if you are able to move.
These tasks can be difficult to accomplish, especially when you’re in a situation most people would consider a nightmare. Even if you only manage to accomplish a few of these tasks, you will be able to survive better than those who do nothing but give up and crumble.
Keep Calm & Collect
Your inquisitive mind should never stop working when you are held captive. Knowing the reason you were taken will help you plan your escape. Was it sexual? Was it to get you ransom? Was it revenge for an act you committed to someone else? Did you find yourself in the wrong place at wrong time? Your worth to your kidnapper(s) will determine how long you are kept alive. “Loose cannons” are abductors who have severe mental illness or are part of a larger political agenda. They may kill you at any moment.
