How to disassemble, clean, and re-assemble Jewell Triggers

June 8, 2022Jewell triggers remain the most popular triggers for competition benchrest and F Class rifles. They are also very popular for tactical rifles, hunting, varmint and other uses (with or without safetyties). A Jewell trigger can last for many years with very little maintenance. However, if the trigger gets too dirty, it may be necessary for the trigger to be disassembled for cleaning. Our friends Ed and Steve (aka the 6.5 guys) have created a helpful video showing how to disassemble and reassemble a Jewell Trigger.
Jewell triggers are a popular choice for long-range precision shooting. They require regular cleaning and maintenance, just like all other things. They can be cleaned with charcoal lighter fluid, or dropped into an ultrasonic cleaner. They can also be disassembled according the Jewell Trigger Manual if necessary. We were forced to disassemble a trigger because of sticky dirt stuck to it that couldn’t easily be removed by an ultrasonic cleaner. We started by looking for step-by step instructions. However, we couldn’t find any. So we created a video and a guide. This was published on 65Guys.com. These instructions can be used with either a left- or a right-handed trigger. In this case, we used a left-handed BR trigger with safety release and bolt release. 65Guys.com has step-by-step instructions. Before you attempt to disassemble your trigger, we recommend that you carefully read the instructions. This video will explain the process.
