The Illustrated History of Firearms covers everything from the earliest matchlocks to the most modern match-grade superguns. These two lever-action rifles, which President Theodore Roosevelt owned, are part the NRA Museum collection. First, a Winchester 1886 rifle that Roosevelt bought with winnings from a tennis match. Below is a suppressed Winchester 1894 rifle. Roosevelt loved to shoot varmints in Oyster Bay (Long Island NY) with this gun, so he wouldn’t disturb his neighbors — The Tiffany and Du Pont families.
