January 2023: New Guns and Gear

You are looking for a new iron, or a piece of equipment to improve the one you have? You might be familiar with Fletcher Rifle Works open top 11/22 PistolRimfire geeks. It improves upon Ruger 10/22 by allowing access the bolt, extractor, firing pin, and receiver without removing the trigger. Handy. Bandera has adopted the idea and released it as the 11/22 pistol. The Charger-esque offering is easy to maintain and has a host of other assets. This includes a receiver CNC-machined from 6061T6 aluminum, stainless steel pins, springs, detents, and an 9-inch carbon fiber-wrapped barrel with 1/2×28 thread to attach accessories. Bandera adds a Ruger BX trigger, shock-absorbing buffer pin, and a 9-inch carbon-fiber-wrapped barrel with 1/2×28 thread for accessories. MSRP: $975Masterpiece Arms ESR Rimfire rifle Masterpiece Arms (MPA), a premier manufacturer of precision rimfire guns, has taken this into consideration. The ESR Chassis of the company is a great example of this. It can take the.22LR far, and then some. It is built upon the MPA’s ESR Chassis and features an MPA/Curtis Action. A Curtis Rimfire bolt is included. It also has an MPA heavy-profile barrel that is compatible with Vudoo Rimfire magazines. The gunmaker also includes an ATS barrel tuner. The 12-pound rig is not an everyday plinker, but it’s a competition-specific rig. The ESR is a great tool for precision rimfire shooting, but not everyone can afford it. What can you do? Savage’s 64 Precision offers shooters a lights out package at a price almost anyone can afford. The semi-auto.22 LR semi-auto.22 LR has a nylon chassis that is glass-filled, a 16.5-inch barrel, and a pistol grip that is well-formed. This extends shooters’ reach, and ensures consistency on target. Savage has threaded a muzzle making it easy to add a can. He also predrilled and tapped the receiver and added a Picatinny rail to the receiver for easy optics addition. The stock is fixed to the chassis. It’s M-Lok compatible with slots at the 3- and 6- o’clock, 9-o’clock, and 9-o’clock positions. It also features a barricade stop for steady shooting. MSRP: $300Norma Subsonic 40-Grain.22LR AmmunitionNorma is known for its top-of-the-line ammo. When the manufacturer turns its attention towards rimfire, it is certain that it will be different… and likely a bull’s-eye. Norma’s introduction TAC-22 Subsonic 44 grain.22 LRHP is a win on both counts. The stuff is well below the sound barrier (1.033 fps), and it’s tailor-made to bring out the best in your suppressed.22 without compromising on performance. This is largely due to the 44-grain hollow point bullet, which provides stability at lower speeds. It also thumps its terminal destinations like the dickens. Norma isn’t able to extract a pound in terms of price. This is not something that’s being discussed in this space. It’s safe to say that the Colt Woodsman will be involved in the debate. This makes Standard Manufacturing’s news quite exciting. The recently launched SG22 by Standard Manufacturing is a worthy successor to one of the most iconic rimfire pistols, which is a bonus for performance and aesthetics. The pistols are available in three different versions: blued, color-case-hardened and color-case-hardened engraved. These include a 6-inch barrel, target-style walnut handles, crisp trigger, and target sights. Although the SG22 is a bit more expensive than the SG22, it is still a popular choice for rimfire pistol shooters. MSRP: Starting at $1,000Faxon Rimfire Short BarrelLineWith modularity built into the product, there’s no reason to settle for a stock Ruger 10/22. Faxon Firearms offers a unique way for shooters to configure the standby.22 LR semiauto. The company’s short-barrel range: Available in six, 8.5, and 10.5 inch models, the stainless steel firetubes are an excellent choice for building a 10/22 shorty, whether it be a pistol or SBR. Faxon loads them up with extras such as threaded and cap muzzles, fluting (flame design for the 8.5-inch barrel), and recessed target crowns. Faxon barrels can be ordered with either salt bath nitride and PVD coatings. There is always room for improvement. The innovative Iowa gunmaker, the Scorpion-X, has found a way to improve. The gun’s flat-top version of the.22 pistol has an important advantage: it can mount a variety of red-dots in different configurations. Multiple mounting holes on the LLVX upper are the key to the secret sauce. Volquartsen also offers the handgun in 4.5-inch and 6-inch barrel sizes, as well as a threaded muzzle, sweet trigger, and a 2.25-pound break. Volquartsen also offers the upper as an individual component. It is compatible with Ruger MKII and MKIII, and older Scorpions. Target grids and bullseye sizes can be downloaded in MOA. This is a great option for long-range shooting. Enter your email address below.
