Their legend is still a source of inspiration as one the most successful warrior societies in history. Magnum Research has reinterpreted this face in its latest Desert Eagle model: the Viking L5. The Magnum Research Viking L5 Desert Eagle. The L5 is the third in a series inspired by Viking-inspired Desert Eagles. It was inspired by long Norse swords found in archeological digs. The Viking L5 has a weathered finish, which is hand distressed to resemble ancient blades. Each pistol is unique because each one contains hand-created content. Each L5 is coated with a clear coat to preserve the mythic imagery from the Norse culture. Magnum Research. The Viking L5 is chambered in.50 AE and features a 5-inch barrel with an integrated muzzle brake to reduce felt recoil. The front sight is located on the barrel’s top. It pairs with the combat rear view. The barrel also has a seven-slot Picatinny rail that can be used to mount an optic. The Lightweight L5 weighs in at 3 pounds 6 ounces, and comes with a Hogue finger-grooved rubber handle. The possibility of slide bite is eliminated by the large beavertail. The ambidextrous safety allows for both left- and right-handed operation. The mag release and slide stop are only for right-handed use. The Viking, like all lightweight Desert Eagle L5 models is New York State compliant. Each pistol comes with a single 7-round magazine.
