You need a simple, yet easy-to-use drop table for your rifle. You can simply tape it to your rifle’s buttstock. Hornady’s Online Ballistics Calculator is a great option. This calculator is easy to use and will calculate your drops accurately. It will also output a handy cheat sheet that you can print out and attach to your rifle.
Here’s how it works. Simply input G1 or G7 BC values as well as muzzle velocity, bullet weight, zero range and other variables into the Ballistics Calculator Page.
To view the complete chart (shown below), click “Calculate”. Click “View Cheatsheet”, then the 4-line Drop Chart (shown below) will open. You’re done!
You can choose between a basic table or an advanced version with more variables. The online ballistics calculator is simple to use. You can choose between the basic version and an advanced version that includes more environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and air pressure. You can also calculate wind drift numbers by entering wind speed and wind angle.
It is convenient that come-ups on the trajectory output are listed in both MOA or Mils — so it will work with either MOA clicks, or Mil-based clicks. There are many more advanced ballistics solvers online (such as the excellent Applied Ballistics Online calculator), but the Hornady calculater is simple and straightforward to use. This is a good option if you are looking for a simple drop chart.
